I commute to work to fly international as a jet captain, most every month, via commercial airline. I can’t seem to avoid going through Atlanta airport and I have a lot of company there. I am particularly insensed with the $7.95 charge to use the WIFI there to check my e-mails. It is of small consolation that the price buys me 24 hours of which 23 are useless!
I mention the situation at major airports often because I believe the promise that the Very Light Jets will spawn new travel transportation technology in the form of true Air Taxis. Demand has a way of producing results! We believe in Air Taxis and have devoted a section of the magazine to cover developments in this dynamic part of VLJ history.
Why go to Atlanta at all? I guess I will miss the cheese crackers but maybe the air taxi will board them!
I had a comment last week from a valued reader to the extent that these Captain reports should be shorter- READ ON- there’s a lot of information below - surprises- and maybe balloons for the kids..
It was a busy couple of weeks at Very Light Jet Magazine. We traveled to Sun N’ Fun at Lakeland, Florida and visited old VLJ friends and made new ones. Our Sun N' Fun tour included this exclusive interview with Cessna Chief Jack Pelton.
Rick Schrameck of Epic was our gracious host for a fascinating one-on-one candid discussion. Our interview will be presented in an upcoming edition.
We discussed “The Jet” with Cirrus Design’s Dale Klapmeier, discussed the hot VLJ market with Shelly and Jan of Adam Aircraft. Our friends at Embraer plan to attend our VLJ show in Aspen in August- more details later. Peter Mauer of Diamond shared a few minutes of his time for a discussion of their D-Jet.
Next stop for us is the AWST Very Light Jet conference in West Palm Beach where I will be a conducting interviews and covering the event for Very Light Jet Magazine. We are media sponsoring the event.
We appreciate recognition for our hard work. Thanks to Joe Sharkey of the NY Times for his May 2nd "Memo Pad" reference to our venerable Very Light Jet Magazine. We also occupy page 41 of Sales & Marketing Management May Edition thanks to their Associate Editor Rebecca Arnauer. If you read this far down you want to be sure and have HDTV ready because Very Light Jet Magazine may have a surprise for you. Very Light Jet Magazine is read in over 100 countries per month! DON’T FORGET: NEWS is updated throughout the day and is the only source on the planet for VLJ ONLY NEWS!
See you all on the road- probably at the Atlanta airport. It has many redeeming qualities but I can’t think of any at the moment.
